Zeph. 3:16-17

Lesson # Zeph. 3:16-17
Study Material - Zeph. 3:16-17

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Zeph. 3:16-17

16 In that day [yowm] it shall be said [amar] to Jerusalem [Yaruwshalaim] , Fear [yare] thou not: and to Zion [Tsiyown] , Let not thine hands [yad] be slack [raphah] .
17 The LORD [Yahovah] thy God [elohiym] in the midst [qereb] of thee is mighty [gibbowr] ; he will save [yasha] , he will rejoice [suws] over thee with joy [simchah] ; he will rest [charash] in his love [ahabah] , he will joy [giyl] over thee with singing [rinnah] . KJV-Interlinear

16 In that day it will be said to Jerusalem: 'Do not be afraid, O Zion; Do not let your hands fall limp. 17 'The LORD your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. NASB

'In that day' is a reference to the final days of the Tribulation. There will be a great tendency to give way to doubts, to become despondent, distressed, stressed out due to the tremendous pressures and fears from the living conditions and threats which exist moment to moment, and day to day through endlessly cold winters and hot summers which don't seem to end.

God reminds these folks from these last few verses (those verses of yesterday and those in today's lesson), that it is they who are of great value to God. And those who are of value to God, then God will certainly not forget them, and God will not leave them to the whims of the world.

Zion is the mountain in Jerusalem representing the vast wisdom of God. Daughters of Zion are those believers who are the productive (daughters) offspring of Gods word. These are mature believers. Mature believers are those folks (anyone) who study Gods word, live their lives in fellowship, advance in their spiritual life through the learning and application of His Word to their daily lives.

Daughters of Jerusalem is an indication of a city, a collection of peoples who have advanced to the status of 'peace' in their lives. Jerusalem is the City of Peace, and that peace is the peace of God which comes from advancing to spiritual maturity. A city is not a village of just a few hundred, nor a city which happens to rise up along the road, a city of a few thousand.

But this city is the capital of the nation, with a population of many tens of thousands. So when Christ returns, the world though thoroughly destroyed, and to an onlooker it would seem that no human being could have possibly survived, then many tens of thousands of people will begin crawling out of the woodwork as if by magic, and they will descend on Jerusalem, as Christ calls them out and collects them to Himself.

What will Christ's attitude be toward the remnant (mature believers). It will be the attitude of a bridegroom toward his new bride, on their wedding night. The knight in shining armor, the victorious warrior come to rescue the princess. With the greatest of honor and respect, and the utmost love. Together the two (Christ and rescued believers) will celebrate in a celebration unlike any other in human history.

Therefore, the call to 'fear not.' The reassurance of scripture. Though Christ is Himself not here physically on the earth, He is just as close to the believer from the scriptures as He will be when He returns at the Second Advent. Christ does not have to be here to protect those who belong to Him.

Jesus Christ controls history, and all one has to do is comply with His commands through doctrine. Very simple commands - be in fellowship (confess regularly to God the Father), study consistently, live your life in accordance with Gods principles. These are things that you should do in life anyway. Nothing more is being asked of you except that you place God first in your life and therefore advance in your spiritual life. Anyone advancing in their spiritual life cannot lose. God will insure that you will complete your life a winner.

Heb. 12:1-2
1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. NASB

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
