Ephesians 1:9

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

9 Having made known [gnorizo] unto us [hemin] the mystery [musterion] of his [autos] will, [thelema] according to [kata] his [autos] good pleasure [eudokia] which [hos] he hath purposed [protithemai] in [en] himself: [autos] KJV-Interlinear

9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him NASB

The word for mystery, 'musterion,' means something into which one must be taught, initiated into, instructed, before the mystery can become known and understood. Prior to that revelation through instruction, the mystery remains a mystery and its secrets cannot be known.

With doctrine, the mysteries of God are impossible to understand unless God has revealed the understanding. And that understanding is only revealed through instruction.

You cannot self-teach when it comes to doctrine. You cannot 'feel it' into yourself, or sense it, or reason it into yourself.

Bible doctrine comes from only one source and that is the scriptures as originally written and presented to humanity by God.

To the unbeliever, all things spiritual are as foolishness. They lack the human spirit, and the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit, and the fellowship sphere with which to learn and understand doctrine.

Furthermore, God can withhold certain principles of truth until the right time in history.

In Jesus time, the whole principle of the First Advent was missed by that generation.

In Daniels time, certain doctrines were closed until the right time in history.

The Church Age was not revealed in Old Testament times.

In the Tribulation, the anti-christ will not be revealed until that period of history begins. Even the doctrine of the seven thunders will not be made known to anyone but that last generation during those seven years.

In your everyday life, the principles of doctrine, the meaning and purpose of your life, the orientation and understanding of life, of God, of everything, will remain a mystery to you, if you choose to not follow Gods procedure for learning doctrine, and for growing up within your spiritual life.

In all of this and more, doctrine remains a mystery, will be elusive to you, and your life will be unfulfilled and miserable as long as you do not pursue your daily Bible study, while in fellowship, and therefore in accordance with Gods plan and design.

To do it all on your own, to remain indifferent toward Gods will, to ignore your personal obligations and responsibilities in life, is a fools plan.

Those who do so, look at life only for the 'now' and ignore the future. And that is a huge mistake.
