18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich, and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.    NASB

Several times the Bible will make the statement, ‘Behold,’ in order to get your attention.  And here Christ gives us all a strong suggestion, that we pay attention, listen to, and take His advice.

Your life will continue on forever.  Your life is not going to continue in this world as it is now, but in the next life. You are here of the sole purpose of preparing yourself for that next life.

Why do children go to school?  So that they can get prepared for their life when they leave their parents home and start a new life for themselves.

And that is the same here.  You are in school in this life.  But more than learning doctrine, you are making an investment now, that you will redeem in the future in the next life.

And your investment consists of the details, structure and use of Bible doctrine.  Doctrine builds wealth in your soul now, which will transform into real wealth in the future.

Doctrine in the soul is gold in your life.  White clothing represents the purity of a functional spiritual life, living in fellowship through confession, and your nakedness is a reference to the sin nature within you.

If you confess regularly and live your day to day life in fellowship, then your sin nature is in effect hidden from view.  It is still there, but it does not function when you are in fellowship.

Learning doctrine and using it, means you are enriching your life through the structure of doctrine building up within your soul.  However, the salve for your eyes is an expression for your wanting to learn and understand doctrine in the first place.  If you do not have the right attitude, the right desire, and follow the right procedure for learning spiritual information, then your spiritual life will not advance.

Without a genuine desire to learn, you will never be able to comprehend the truth of life, nor be able to prepare yourself for the next life, which is certain to come.

This life has many uncertainties and limitations.  The next life is certain and has virtually no limitations, if you are prepared.

You use preparation techniques for this life, which do not guarantee you anything in this life, but why not use the preparation techniques for the next life, which guarantee you a phenomenal life and success in the next life?
