You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

2 Timothy 1:12

12 For [dia] the which [hos] cause [aitia] I [pascho] also [kai] suffer [pascho] these things: [tauta] nevertheless [alla] I am [epaischunomai] not [ou] ashamed: [epaischunomai] for [gar] I know [eido] whom [hos] I have believed, [pisteuo] and [kai] am persuaded [peitho] that [hoti] he is [esti] able [dunatos] to keep [phulasso] that which I [mou] have committed unto him [paratheke] against [eis] that [ekeinos] day. [hemera] KJV-Interlinear

12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. NASB

For the reasons stated above in the prior verses, Paul also suffers, just as every believer in Christ suffers by virtue of the fact that we are all living in this devils imperfect world.

Paul was tormented, abused both physically and mentally, and thrown into prison and has been made to endure a very difficult life. Prior to this, he had a relative easy life as he himself did the tormenting of Christians.

Now he himself is the Christian and the target of torment.

He is not ashamed despite his burdens and difficult life style.

And neither should you be disappointed or ashamed.

Most folks have less than public or choice lives. Most of us live lives that are not considered elite or desirable, and yet we live them, because God placed us in them. We have difficult times in paying our bills, and just maintaining a household. We are not popular. We are not the object of attention.

And yet if we pursue the Christian faith, most of the world will look at us as though we are the fools, for believing in something that does not make us successful in the eyes of the world. And quite frankly, most Christians barely get by in life, so we become the objects of derision and mocking.

But we believe in God, in His promise, in His savior, in His spirit of truth, and in the destiny that has been promised to us.

And it will come to us 'in that day.' That day, is a reference to the resurrection.

For you and me and believers in this Church Age, that refers to the Rapture. We do not know when it will occur, but we are certain, because we believe in the scriptures.

And on that day, in that moment, then all of our hopes and confidence will become a reality.

Today we cannot depend on the government nor trust it, we cannot depend or trust in people, we cannot depend or trust in our employment, our health, our talent, or any attribute of this life.

But we can depend on and trust in, God, through Christ.

People who lack spiritual lives, have nothing with which to depend on, and yet they have all the things that can be seen and heard and touched and smelled and so forth. But believers who pursue their spiritual lives, look to something that we cannot see or hear, or sense in any manner in this physical world, and yet we have far more than those who possess tangible things.
