Into everybody's life there comes along friends and foes.

Paul addressed Timothy as a true child in faith and a beloved son. Timothy was raised in doctrinal principles by his parents, as we have already studied, but the greatest share of his understanding came from Paul.

For just a few decades, their relationship as mentor and instructor, and student, they both shared many trials, including imprisonment (of both men) because of their faith.

Timothy was one of Pauls most loyal friends, sharing everything in truth, and expecting nothing.

True friends never attach a price nor strings of expectations, on their friendship.

Throughout your life you will have old friends and new ones, some will be consistent in their friendship and some will not.

In any case, no single person goes through life without some sort of friend, whether it be a person from the other side of the world, as is possible in our current day, or whether it be a spouse who is right beside you day after day.

Many things and people help shape our lives and make us into what we are today.

But in every situation in life, doctrine is the key that places all that we are, into proper perspective with the rest of humanity and especially with God.

The key to your orientation to life, first begins with your orientation with God and truth, and from there, if your interest in spiritual growth is genuine and not pretense or phony, then everything else in life will come together naturally.

All that is required of you is a desire to want to learn, and then a dedication to learning as mandated by God.
