25 Therefore is the anger ['aph] of the LORD [Yahovah] kindled [charah] against his people, [`am] and he hath stretched forth [natah] his hand [yad] against them, and hath smitten [nakah] them: and the hills [har] did tremble, [ragaz] and their carcases [nabelah] were torn [cuwchah] in the midst [qereb] of the streets. [chuwts] For all this his anger ['aph] is not turned away, [shuwb] but his hand [yad] is stretched out [natah] still. KJV-Interlinear

25 On this account the anger of the Lord has burned against His people, And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them down, And the mountains quaked; and their corpses lay like refuse in the middle of the streets., For all this His anger is not spent,, But His hand is still stretched out. NASB

The word for anger is language of accommodation. God does not really get angry, but He does raise the level of judgment or justice, or discipline to the appropriate levels for dealing with sin and evil.

Anger indicates a heightened level of the application of justice against evil folks.

Stretching forth his hand, indicates the direction or the target of that justice.

The word for smitten or struck, indicates the actual execution of the action of that justice.

The hills trembling, indicates the presence of God, in all of His majesty and power, causing trembling, and fear, and such in those, who He stands before.

Corpses like refuse, is the result of Gods judgment. There is no question as to the outcome on the battlefield. The dead are torn apart, tossed about like garbage, scattered like filth discarded in the streets.

And despite the horrible judgments being received, there is still more to come.

Sometimes God executes judgments that are severe, and then more judgments follow. Death can be followed by disease, or starvation, or the horrors of becoming a prisoner, for those who survive the initial onslaught of Gods wrath.

Needless to say, for those who are already dead, this earthly ongoing of judgments, has no affect. They are already removed from life and face whatever is applicable to them after death, be it heaven or Torments.

When the Tribulation period of history begins, then that horror will continue for the entire seven years as nearly the entire worlds population will die sooner or later as a result of Gods judgments.

Only when there is nobody remaining to judge, will the course of Gods justice be complete.
