Isaiah 10:11

11 Shall I not, as I have done [`asah] unto Samaria [Shomarown] and her idols, ['eliyl] so do [`asah] to Jerusalem [Yaruwshalaim] and her idols [`atsab]? KJV-Interlinear

11 Shall I not do to Jerusalem and her images Just as I have done to Samaria and her idols?" NASB

The arrogance of Assyria continues. It equates the idols of Jerusalem and Samaria, with the other countries that they have or will conquer.

This clearly shows that the charges of God against both countries, as well as all of the examples of their falling away throughout the book of Judges and elsewhere, is correct. They had turned away from God and had turned to the idols of their choice which came from the influences that they received from other countries.

Their idols were no better than the idols of other countries, because they were no different.

Their idols were not going to save them from Assyria, because their idols were non-existent false identities.

Assyria did not mention the one true God that has been leading and keeping Jerusalem and Samaria throughout their history even before their split. Clearly the true faith did not exist or was of such a minority that outsiders would know nothing about it.

Assyria did not distinguish their God as being different than the idols of other countries.

God and the Messiah were not idols and clearly were different from all the other gods and deities elsewhere.

So, the proof of Israel's failure comes even out of the mouth of its enemies who look at Israel not as a chosen nation, but no different than any other nation.

They were decadent, evil, and weak. They were ripe for invasion.

There are two instances in which Gods chosen people are trampled. The first is when they themselves turn against God and act and behave no differently than all the other evil peoples of the world. And second, when history is led to a point that God allows evil to run out of control.

Throughout history the spiritual strength of people has risen and fallen like a rollercoaster and the repercussions have manifested themselves accordingly.

But there will come a time when evil will maintain control over the entire world and when that happens, God will remove His chosen at the Rapture, and then evil will have but seven years to prove itself. That proof will end in the making of its own disaster to the brink of human extinction.
