4 I cried [qara'] unto the LORD [Yahovah] with my voice, [qowl] and he heard [`anah] me out of his holy [qodesh] hill. [har] Selah. [celah] KJV-Interlinear

4 I was crying to the Lord with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. NASB

The word for cry, ‘qara,’ is future tense and means when I cry, or when next I cry because of the hardships that surround me, referring to David, in times of trouble.

Thus David has but one response to trouble when it comes into his life, and that response is to turn to God.

David knows that this is the devils world, and that trouble is always around the next corner. It is just a matter of time when trouble will come into his life.

It is the same with you and me, and with us all. This is the devils world. By default, trouble is out there and will find us sooner or later.

Sometimes that trouble will be small, like a broken finger nail. Sometimes the trouble will be great. Like the death of a loved one. And then there are all of the possible troubles in between, so numerous that they cannot be counted.

What is your reaction when trouble raises its head in your life? Do you complain? Do you whine? Do you look for someone to blame? Do you feel sorry for yourself?

Or, do you look to God, accepting that trouble will occur, knowing that it will never be at times of convenience, but knowing that God will have a solution for you, even if it is in the simple training of your mental attitude over that problem. Will you, can you, maintain some poise and self control when trouble occurs.

Perhaps trouble has to enter into your life several times before your training helps you to learn how to deal with it.

Perhaps you are hard headed enough such that you just do not learn.

Perhaps it takes several types of trouble before the light comes on inside of your head.

All of life’s experiences are designed to test your spiritual growth in one way or another. Most people fail.

God always hears your call for help. God always hears you through His holy hill, Zion, which refers to Bible doctrine. Out from His holy hill.

Zion is the tallest point in the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the city of peace. Peace refers to spiritual maturity for that is the end result of maturity. Zion refers to the content of doctrine, the mountain of doctrine, that produces and supports that peace through maturity.

Therefore, help comes from God, through doctrine, which comes to you through learning. You cannot use what you do not know.

Selah, is a pause or a rest. Many are the plans and opinions of man, but Gods plan goes right on, regardless of mans view.
