You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Psalm 18:18

18 They prevented [qadam] me in the day [yowm] of my calamity: ['eyd] but the LORD [Yahovah] was my stay. [mish`en] KJV-Interlinear

18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my stay. NASB

Prevented, 'qadam,' means to project, precede, anticipate, hasten, meet before, and is used for an opponent that steps out in front of you in a contest in order to prevent or to defeat you.

Calamity, 'eyd,' means to bend down, oppression, misfortune, ruin, destruction.

Stay, 'mishen,' is taken from a structural support of a building, sustenance, protector.

Therefore, into everyone's life, there will come trials and burdens and pressures of a variety of sorts. Life in this world was never intended nor designed to be one of absolute prosperity and rose petals. We will all face difficulties, and that is a good thing, for it teaches us spiritual principles of trusting in God, rather than trusting in this world.

No wealth, no prosperity, no insurance can do for you what doctrine can do.

Not to say that you should choose to oppose these things, for they are all factors in life that can contribute to helping others and making ones life easier in this world. Certainly one of the major principles of doctrine is being responsible and using common sense when facing life.

The error of trusting in things alone, is where the big mistake enters into ones life, as the spiritual life is ignored.

So, throughout your life, you will face calamities. It is not by chance or poor luck that you will have difficulties, but by design. Evil opposes everything that touches truth. Evil also opposes everything that is evil too. Evil has no friends. There is no honor among evil doers.

No matter what your difficulty, the loss of loved ones, your job, home, health, sight, or whatever, all of these things are there to test your faith. They place pressure on you to cry out or complain to God, 'Why me?'

And if God were to answer each person, then that answer would be, 'Because I am preparing you for something far, far, far better.'

God does not bring pressures on people, the world does. But God will allow the pressures of the world to be a part of enhancing your personal spiritual life. This is the devil world. The world was a perfect place until Satan lured man into sin, and then perfection went away. So the difficulties of the world cannot be blamed on God. But He will use them to bring good out of evil. Something that evil cannot do.

God is the foundation, the central support, the main provider, the continuing provision of your life. But, you gain access to that resource, which is God in your life, through the written word.

Spiritual resources do not come to you through osmosis or wishes or luck. You must read and be taught spiritual principles, learn them, repeat that study process, understand them, use them, gain more understanding as you advance through life, and eventually grow up to spiritual maturity, while advancing on the completion of your life.

Growing up does not happen overnight, and for most folks it takes years or decades to get their eyes opened, and to get over the many setbacks you will probably face in life. And by the grace of God, who can see our future where we cannot, He keeps us around so that we too can discover the magnificent blessings that He has waiting for us, in spite of our failures.

But, if you stick with it, by studying day after day after day, for your entire life, then and only then, you will be able to look back in awe even at your own life and see just how God has blessed and advanced you, despite your failures and flaws and attitude.
