You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Psalm 19:10

10 More to be desired [chamad] are they than gold, [zahab] yea, than much [rab] fine gold: [paz] sweeter [mathowq] also than honey [dabash] and the honeycomb [nopheth]. [tsuwph] KJV-Interlinear

10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. NASB

Gold has been the symbol of wealth since time began. Even gold found in the ground is valued highly, and certainly fine gold that has been refined and has had all impurities removed, is even more valuable and useful.

Gold represents great wealth, since one is presumed to have some resources in order to possess gold. Ounce for ounce and size for size, gold has more value and applications and desirability among society, than anything else in this world.

Silver usually represents the prosperity and success of ones life as it is the spending method of exchange. While precious jewels represent the results of ones success or wealth.

As a possession, gold is pursued probably more than any other single thing.

Discover gold, and there will be a rush of seekers and merchants and camp followers such as you have never seen.

Across all nations, cultures, languages and beyond, gold is highly prized as a mere possession, in the form of jewelry, in architecture and so forth.

Honey has been symbolically used as a luxury item, its sweetness is beyond compare, and it represents all that is desirable to the tastes in foods and luxurious foods.

Honey that drips off the honeycomb is said to be the most pure, whereas the honey that comes direct from the comb may have particles of the honeycomb within it, the drippings have no such particles, and here again refer to the ultimate pleasures of life.

It is said that there are three great pleasures in life, money, food, and sex. And while sex is available in some form during some portion of ones life, it is not always available throughout the entirety of ones life as is food or wealth. Wealth and food have more variety and applications in the life and are therefore the greatest of valued things in this world.

But there is one thing that is more valuable, and more applicable to ones life, than even gold or honey. And that thing is truth, or the content of Gods word.

Summarized in the previous verses, Bible doctrine has more value, more power, more life, more results for ones life than anything else, or than all worldly things combined.

It has the power to save, to create growth, to make productive, and to makes ones whole essence in life, complete.

When measured in terms of eternity, Bible doctrine in the soul has infinite value that is beyond calculation. The rewards made available to the spiritually mature individual, are incalculable and they will be possessed for all of eternity. Gold and honey will fade away from ones life when you die, and will fade away when this universe is removed and replaced.

Unfortunately, the world will pursue gold and good foods more than they will pursue doctrine.
