11 For thy name's [shem] sake, O LORD, [Yahovah] pardon [calach] mine iniquity; [`avon] for it is great. [rab] KJV-Interlinear

11 For Thy name's sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. NASB

For thy names sake, is an expression that looks to the character and honor and integrity and promises of God.

And even though David states that his sins are or were great, the emphasis is not on the sins, but on the integrity and honor of God.

And what is in view here? Gods promise to forgive and wipe out all sins, regardless of their intensity.

And as David states here, his sins were great, but his statement, 'although,' means that regardless of the high degree of the sins, God will still forgive them.

Therefore we know that there is no great magnitude or threshold over which God will not forgive. You cannot find a sin or group of sins or history of sins even if your life is filled with sins from its beginning to its end, that God will not forgive.

God does not look to the degree of sins, since all are equally repulsive. God does not single out any given pattern or category of sins and make them unforgivable. The so called unpardonable sin, is not really a sin at all, but a rejection of Christ as savior and that in effect is a wish for separation from God, that God grants to all unbelievers, which is the Lake of Fire, or the granted permanent separation from God, just as the wanted.

To believe that you can do something that is so bad, that God will not forgive you, is unbelievable arrogance on your part. You, no matter who you are or who you think you are, are not that notable of a person and never will be.

God has promised to forgive all sins when you comply with His procedure for gaining that forgiveness. And that procedure is very simple. You merely have to confess them to Him and they are wiped away.

'Father I did this and that.' And this is the confession format. Simply list your sins to God the Father and then forget them.

This restores your spiritual status so that you can resume your advancement and function within your spiritual life.

But remember that this is not a free pass for life in general. You may still have to deal with the consequences of your actions with regard to the world. Your sins can lead to social repercussions for you, your crimes can lead to legal problems for you, your promiscuous activities can lead to various medical problems for you and so forth.

The spiritual aspects of life are not of this world, therefore your spiritual life can resume unhindered even in the face of horrible worldly circumstances.

God does this for your sake and because He is honorable and fair and will keep His promises, even when you fail miserably.
