Matthew 7:7-11

Lesson # Matt. 7:7-11
Study Material - Matt. 7:7-11

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 7:7-11

7 'Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. 8 'For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened. 9 'Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10 'Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 'If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Prayer must be consistent with Gods essence (no sinful requests), must be consistent with Gods plan for the angelic conflict (can't rid the world of demons just yet), must be consistent with Gods plan for the human race (dispensations - rapture, tribulation, millennium), and must be consistent with Gods specific plan for you (that objective being your spiritual growth and glorification of God, not glorification of you).

A deeply loving father always wants the very best for his children. Certainly for those who are responsible and obedient to the fathers will, but even to those who are somewhat obnoxious.

Therefore, we are commanded to pray. That format was studied in previous lessons in Matthew. Here we are encouraged to pray, not only for those whom we know need Gods help, but here we are encouraged to pray for ourselves. After all it is our eternity that is to be decided in this life. We need to focus as much as possible on our own investment for ourselves. Infinite results depend on it. Emphasis on the word 'infinite'. That means a great deal to each one of us for our eternal life. We might think that our life on earth is a long time - 60 years, 80 years, or whatever, but eternity is millions, billions, trillions of trillions of years and far beyond our little life here on earth. We will be young for a long time.

Ask anything? No. Ask for Gods word - Bible doctrine. That is the basis for everything, the foundation on which our entire life stands. Seek what? Seek wisdom, understanding of Gods word. Seek the understanding so that you might utilize it, apply it to your life, and therefore accelerate your spiritual growth. The circular cycle of learning and applying what you learn and repeating this pattern, accelerates your spiritual growth and builds spiritual muscle and a strong and powerful foundation of faith. Finally knock at the door of Gods palace - fellowship through confession, that you might enter into the presence of God and remain there in His palace, your proper place of residence, security, privacy, protection, and so forth.

Can I win this race, pass this test, get this job, etc.? Don't confuse the natural activities of this world with spiritual blessings. If you practice, study, are broadly experienced, then perhaps you will win the race, pass the test, get the job, etc. But if you don't study, you won't pass, and no amount of praying will get you an 'A'. If you are hurt, no amount of praying will heal you. God provided doctors with medical knowledge. Use the system as you appropriately need to.

Prosper me, keep me from evil, protect me, help me in my troubles. All are appropriate requests and God answers all proper requests in the positive. The natural result of spiritual growth is blessing - lots of it. So seek God first (study Bible doctrine and advance to spiritual maturity), then all these things (details of life) will come to you by default.

The Father in heaven cares a great deal for you. Who is man that Thou art mindful of him. God has destined you to share the inheritance of the universe and the rulership of the universe jointly with Christ. See the list of 'blessings' on the Index page. You have a tremendous destiny before you. Why would you worry about the little things of this life - and believe it - everything in this life is small by comparison.

Would a caring parent give you something bad when you seek something good? Your basic needs like food are obvious. God would not intentionally direct harm to you, but quite the opposite. Even unbelievers, people who live regularly in this evil world, have cares for their young. Prosperous unbelievers get their kids good education's, toys, food, shelter, the finer things in life. God has far more resources than any person on earth. He has a far better destiny plan for His children than any unbeliever. Therefore, we have far more opportunity, far more resources to draw from. Our life in Gods family is infinitely superior than anything else this earth has to offer.

If the possibilities of this world seem great, and if God is millions of times (infinitely) more generous and wealthy, then the prospects of blessing from God are far greater. The objective? Relax, and build your faith by means of Bible study and application of same to your life. And then let the blessings come to you - 'my cup overflows'. Blessings come to you in volumes. God gives and you sit back and receive. God does all the work. You do none of the work, but only to learn and grow up in your faith.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
